動態展示する本機は、小物部品の平面を往復直線運動によって加工する小型の形削り盤である。戻り行程では加工しない。早戻り機構は未設置だが、自動横送り装置が付く。1830年代にイギリスのナスミスが最初に開発した形削り盤が原形となっている。

This machine’s operation can be seen in action in the exhibition. It is a small shaper that processes the planes on small parts using a reciprocating linear motion. It does not cut during the return stroke. A quick return mechanism has not been installed, but an automatic horizontal feed device is attached. It is based on the shaper that was first developed by Nasmyth in England in the 1830s.
