This is a treadle-powered, all-metal tabletop lathe. The important feature of this machine is its triangular bed, which was adopted by Maudsley, the originator of metal lathes. A steady rest device is mounted on the bed, to show how long shafts are machined on this lathe. A crank mechanism is employed with the treadle.
