本機は、高速回転する砥石車の外周を用いて、工作物の平面を精密仕上げする平面研削盤である。当初開発されたブラウン&シャープ製１号機の流れを汲む後継機である。テーブルに取り付けた工作物を前後左右に動かして研削する。

This is a surface grinding machine for finishing the flat surface of a workpiece precisely using the outer circumference of a grindstone that is rotating at high speed. It is a successor to the first machine originally developed by Brown & Sharpe. The surface is ground by moving the workpiece attached to the table back & forth and left & right.
