Cam Terminology

U
Undercut When determining the shape of the cam based on the trajectory of the center of the roller, the edge that occurs on the cam surface when the diameter of the radius of curvature of the lobe of the trajectory of the center of the roller is smaller than the radius of the roller.
Universal Curve A cam designed for all-purpose usage. The cam curve is divided into seven periods connected by a series of trigonometric cam curves up to the acceleration period. The time distribution for each period is adjustable by specifying parameters.

Unsymmetrical
Cam Curve
A cam curve where the accelerating speed of the first half differs from the decelerating speed of the latter half. Used to improve the characteristics of gear reducers for high-speed specifications.
