本機は、ラック型の切れ刃を持つ螺旋状工具であるホブを用いて、インボリュート歯形を創成する歯切り専用のホブ盤である。ホイトン社製初期のホブ盤で、ホイトン歯切り盤とも呼ばれる。自動歯切り機構を備え、かさ歯車、ウォームギヤの歯切りもできる。
